Microneedling uses fine needles to puncture the skin and cause micro injuries. This stimulates the skin, induces cell turnover, and encourages collagen and elastin production to heal the injuries, leading to smoother, brighter, and more toned skin. The procedure can be used on the skin as well as the scalp to stimulate new hair growth.
Microneedling can be paired with acupuncture to greatly increase the results. Adding acupuncture treats hair loss from the inside and targets the reason why hair is thinning. Microneedling also promotes the absorption of topical serums which aid in the production of new hair follicles and enhances the appearance of healthy skin.
Those who get the microneedling procedure experience little to no downtime. Most are able to return to their normal daily activities shortly after the procedure is completed. Some may experience redness and irritation after the procedure, but this should disappear within days and can easily be covered with makeup.
When you come in for your microneedling procedure, your skin will be cleaned a numbing cream will be applied to minimize discomfort. The technician will use a pen or a stamp with tiny needles to pierce the skin. You may feel some pressure, but you should not feel any pain or discomfort. Once the procedure is over, another layer of serum will be applied to your face to moisturize and enhance your results. You can then take some time to relax before leaving our spa and resuming your normal activities.
Most of those who have the microneedling procedure experience mild swelling or redness that looks like a mild sunburn. This usually lasts for 24-48 hours. After a week or two, you will notice a smoother, more radiant skin tone and you may begin to notice more hair growth. The full results of microneedling on both the skin and the scalp will not be seen for a few months.
